Gemma Vardy, Senior Category Specialist, NVS
Gemma has been an integral part of NVS's Category Team for the past six years. In her role as Senior Category Specialist, she oversees the large animal and equine categories, ensuring a diverse range of high-quality products with consistent stock availability. Passionate about new product development and innovation, Gemma also plays a crucial role in developing the Select from NVS product line. She collaborates with veterinary practices to understand their product needs and works with NVS's trusted manufacturers to bring those products to market.
Jana Leontescu, Trainee Clinical Pathologist, NationWide Laboratories
Jana Leontescu BSc, MRCVS has a background in clinical practice in both Romania and the UK. Her interest in veterinary science led her to transition from practice to diagnostic pathology, joining NationWide Laboratories as part of the microbiology team with a focus on parasitology. Now training as a Clinical Pathologist, she is working towards board certification, expanding her expertise in laboratory diagnostics across a range of disciplines. Her experience on both sides of veterinary medicine gives her a well-rounded perspective on the challenges of diagnosing and managing disease.
Hannah Dale, Marketing & Communication Lead, SageTech Veterinary
Hannah Dale, BA (Hons), is the Marketing & Communications Lead at SageTech Veterinary, a UK company tackling the environmental impact of volatile anaesthetic gas emissions in veterinary healthcare.
With over 10 years’ experience in marketing and creative media, Hannah leads SageTech’s digital strategy, customer engagement, and campaigns. Since joining in 2022, she has focused on raising awareness of the environmental harm caused by volatile anaesthetic agents and promoting sustainable veterinary solutions.
Brian Faulkner, Veterinary Clinician, Business Consultant and co-founder of Vetpreneur
Brian Faulkner, BSc (Hons), BVM&S, CertGP(SAM), CertGP(BPS), MBA, MSc(Psych), FRCVS, is co-founder of Vetpreneur, a community which connects entrepreneurs and experts in order to access the knowledge and resources required to start-up and scale-up a successful veterinary practice. Brian is an Associate Professor of Veterinary Business at Nottingham University and has been involved in the set up and launch of at least 11 new veterinary practices, including Aldeburgh Vets in Suffolk, where he currently works as a clinician at least 3 days per week.
Dave Hough, Co-owner, The Vets @ Dronfield
Dave has been a vet for over 20 years, starting in mixed practice before focusing on small animals. He’s particularly interested in geriatric pet care—spotting early signs of conditions like arthritis or kidney disease and helping pets stay comfortable and well. Non clinically, he supports his team’s development and aims to foster a happy, healthy work environment. He coaches Junior Rugby at Dronfield Rugby Club, a sport he's loved since school, and enjoys spending time outdoors, whether gardening or exploring the Peaks.
#6 Starting from scratch: Our journey to opening our new practice
Cat Hough, Co-owner, The Vets @ Dronfield
Cat graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 2003 and has worked in small animal practice ever since. She began her career in a large, busy hospital in the West Midlands before becoming a freelance vet, gaining experience across a wide range of practices, from charity clinics to referral centres. She holds an additional qualification in Small Animal Medicine and is a member of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association’s Global Nutrition Committee. Her clinical interests include senior pet care, nutrition, dentistry, and collaborative care. She also shares pet health, welfare and nutrition on social media as ‘Cat The Vet’.
Eric Goldman, President of Vetology AI
Eric Goldman, the President of Vetology AI, is a results-oriented technology leader, creating and implementing strategic programs to move businesses to Best-In-Class performance. At Vetlogy AI, he focuses on the customer and building relationships by making sure they are receiving the clinical results they require to provide better level of care to their patients.
Tony Houghton, Managing Directorof VetIT
As the visionary behind VetIT, Tony Houghton has drawn on his extensive commercial and software expertise to create a system that is helping to transform veterinary practices. His deep understanding of technology, honed across various industries, coupled with his knack for building strong client relationships, has been instrumental in VetIT’s success. A true animal lover, Tony shares his home with several dogs and he even owns a few sheep. Outside of work, you might find him skiing, water skiing, or enjoying a round of golf.
Dr. Stacey A. Newton, Lead Clinical Pathologist, NationWide Laboratories
Dr Stacey A Newton, BVSc, FRCPath, CertEM (Int Med), PhD, MRCVS, graduated from Bristol Veterinary School in 1993. After building up experience in general practice, she became a resident in equine medicine at Leahurst, Liverpool University. She was awarded a certificate in equine medicine (internal) in 1997. Stacey then went on to complete her PhD in equine neuroanatomy and neurology in 2001 and was awarded her FRCPath in 2010.
Dante Meza Ruiz, Assoiate Pathologist, NationWide Laboratories
Dante Meza Ruiz, DVM, M.Ed., DVSc, Dipl. ACVP/ASVCP graduated from Universidad Científica del Sur in Peru. He started in general veterinary practice before moving to academia, where he worked in microbiology and immunology, discovering a passion for teaching. This led him to deliver lectures, which he greatly enjoyed. Dante later completed a residency in clinical pathology at the University of Guelph (Canada), gaining expertise in haematology, cytology, and flow cytometry, ultimately becoming an American board-certified veterinary clinical pathologist.
