Dr John Taylor, MA VetMB MRCVS, Founder, Director and Veterinary Surgeon - Taylor Vets

Dr John Taylor qualified from Cambridge University as a vet in 2000 and joined the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. In 2005 he set up a veterinary practice in Middleton Cheney, and since 2019 has been helping other practices to develop their clinical standards as well helping with more advanced surgical procedures. He is a keen runner and cyclist and has competed in various endurance and Ironman races. He enjoys horse riding, and is currently about to learn how to start driving my horse Atlas. He’s married to Angela and has two boys, Michael and Joe.

Sandra Wells, Head of Operations, NationWide Laboratories

Sandra Wells, BSc (Hons) Applied Biology with Biochemistry, is the Head of Operations and Head of the Sustainability Committee at NationWide Laboratories. Sandra is responsible for the smooth running of the three NationWide Laboratories sites - Poulton-le-Fylde, Cambridge and Newton Abbot. Sandra has worked in the veterinary industry for 25 years and works with zoo clients to develop tests and profiles most suited to their needs. Sandra is passionate about conservation of species and sustainability and is part of the sustainability committee for the NVS Group.

#8 Canine and feline geriatric profiling: how can it help?

Karina Fresneda, Anatomic Pathologist, NationWide Laboratories

Karina, DVM, DiplACVP, graduated from the National University of the Centre of Buenos Aires in 2000. She became a specialist in Anatomo-histopathological Veterinary Diagnosis after two years of training. For 15 years, she taught infectious diseases at the same university, while gaining clinical and laboratory experience in clinical pathology, cytology, and histopathology. She completed a 3-year residency in Anatomic Veterinary Pathology at the University of California, Davis. Karina also teaches courses on clinical pathology, cytology, and histopathology.

Sofia Clara Sacco, Trainee Anatomic Pathologist, NationWide Laboratories

Sofia graduated from the National University of Litoral, Argentina, in 2013 and gained extensive experience in anatomical and clinical pathology. She trained at Zaragoza University (Spain) and UC Davis (USA) and completed a PhD in microbial pathogenesis of bovine mastitis in 2019. She later undertook a postdoctoral program in laboratory animal pathology and lectured in Veterinary Pathology and Infectious Disease. From 2015 to 2024, she worked in postmortem and histological evaluations and is now training to become a Boarded Anatomical Pathologist.
